What's the procedure for getting a dental veneer?

Porcelain Veneers 1 AfterPorcelain Veneers 1 BeforeThe procedure usually requires two visits – the first for preparation and the second for application of the custom-made veneers. The procedure itself involves several steps. These are: diagnosis and treatment planning (including smile selection & personalization), preparation, and bonding. It is important to note that one tooth or many teeth can simultaneously undergo the veneering process described below.

Diagnosis and treatment planning is the first step and involves active participation between you, Dr. Singh and your treatment coordinator.

Preparation. To prepare a tooth for a veneer, a minimal amount of tooth structure is removed (as little as 0.5mm). Impressions are then taken and sent out to a dental laboratory, where your veneers will be custom made. You will have temporary veneers placed while you wait for the artistic creation of your permanent, custom-made ones.  It usually takes 1 to 2 weeks for our office to receive the veneers back from the laboratory. We are proud to say that the lab that we use has also received additional advanced training from the Las Vegas Institute of Cosmetic Dentistry.

Special bonding agents are applied to the veneer and then it is bonded on your tooth. The final steps involve removing any excess cement, polishing and making any final minute adjustments as necessary.
