Full-Mouth or Complete Bite Reconstruction
Full-Mouth Reconstruction: Get the perfect mouth, bite and smile for YOU!
What is a complete bite reconstruction?
A full-mouth or bite reconstruction is the restoration of every tooth in the mouth using veneers, crowns, bridges and/or implant supported crowns. It is used to restore teeth which are broken down, severely worn or missing, therefore causing problems for both the bite and the person’s facial appearance. People suffering from pain, clicking and popping in the jaw joint, or frequent headaches due to a collapsed bite are often candidates for a full-mouth reconstruction.
What are the indications for a complete bite reconstruction?
- Improper occlusion
- Mal-positioned teeth
- Poorly shaped teeth
- Frequent, recurring headaches
- Unbalanced bite causing neck aches, headaches or pain in the jaw joints
- Multiple fractured, chipped or worn teeth
- Discoloured and esthetically unpleasing teeth
- Less than an ideal smile
- Problems with speech, swallowing and/or chewing function
What does a complete bite reconstruction involve?
It will take several visits to prepare and restore you new bite. The first visit is usually a consultation to discuss the findings of your Comprehensive Oral Examination (COE) and to evaluate your symptoms.
The next step is to outline a treatment plan that takes into account everything necessary to correct your bite and provide you with your desired aesthetic improvements. Once this has been established, impressions are taken to make a model to show you how your teeth will look and meet once the reconstruction is complete.

At the preparation appointment, Dr. Singh will reshape your teeth in a very specific way in order to maximize the retention and aesthetics of your crowns, bridges or veneers. To prepare your teeth, he will reduce or build up your teeth and shape them as necessary to produce the overall desired result.
This preparation will allow room for the crowns, bridges or veneers. After your teeth are prepared, impressions are taken using a putty-like material. This impression is then sent to our laboratory to be used in the fabrication of your new custom-crafted, hand-made, artistically-constructed smile.
Once the impression stage is complete, the temporary crowns, reflecting your new bite, will be bonded with temporary cement. The temporary teeth will be worn for at least three to four weeks and adjusted as necessary to achieve the ideal functionality and aesthetics. A try-in is done to confirm the colour, shape, size, appearance and especially the comfort of your new smile.
At the insertion visit, your temporary teeth will be removed and permanent restorations will be tried in for final approval and evaluated for fit, shape, function, aesthetics and colour. When all of these factors are to your (and our) liking, your new restorations are permanently bonded on to complete your full-mouth reconstruction.
How should I take care of my new teeth?
Your new restorations are designed to look, feel and function like your natural teeth. Therefore, it is important to brush and floss daily and to visit us regularly for professional cleanings. With proper care you can expect your new smile to last many, many years.
