Dental implant options There are three types of dental implants available. Vitality Dentistry offers all of them. They include Conventional Implants, Immediate Implants, and Computer Guided Implants.
Conventional Implants Conventional implants are used for teeth that have been extracted or lost long ago. The procedure involves the removal of the defective tooth with the space left to heal for 3-9 months. After that period the implant can be placed.
Computer-Guided Implants This procedure is also called “teeth-in-a-day” because you can have most or all of your teeth replaced in one session. The process involves placing dental implants according to a predetermined position (determined by a computer) in order to achieve perfect alignment. In a follow-up appointment, the temporary acrylic teeth used during the initial placement are replaced with permanent teeth. The benefit of this procedure is that you can place multiple implants with minimally invasive surgery.
Immediate Implants Immediate dental implants can be placed at the same time that the defective tooth is removed. With some modifications, the space that occupied the root of the original tooth is altered to accommodate the titanium implant. Unlike conventional implants, treatment time is reduced down to a day for a functional implant.
Will it hurt? Implants require that you drill into bone, but believe it or not, placing an implant is easier and less painful than extracting a tooth.

How long is the recovery period? The gums heal nicely in one or two weeks. It takes the bone 3-4 months to grow around and fully integrate with the implant. We can place the final restoration (tooth) on the implant in a period from a few weeks to a few months depending on the situation. All details, timelines and expectations will be discussed during the consultation phase. Recover is so swift that some of our patients have gone back to work the same day (even though we recommend having a few days of lighter activity).
How long is the process? This can vary tremendously. Depending on the quality of the bone, we may be able to place the implant on the same day, or we may need to wait a few weeks to a few months. Please come in for your free consultation to determine the answer for your particular situation.
Are all implant products the same? Nobel Biocare was the first to develop dental implants. They are the most trusted in the field, not only because of their technology, procedures and materials, but primarily because of their experience and knowledge with the history of thousands of implants world wide. They know how their products will perform over time. New implant manufacturers don't have that history, knowledge and experience. The reason that we use Nobel Biocare implants is because we know that they have an excellent track record for long term performance... and that the company will be there for the long term.
Why Vitality? Dr. Raj Singh, was a pioneer in the field of Dental Implants. He was one of the first to be trained to use dental implants in North America. He has more than 26 years experience placing all different types of implants in all kinds of different situations... something to consider when you are choosing a dental implant dentist.
