Restore Full Function
A crown restores a fractured or cracked tooth to full strength and function. Traditional crowns require two visits. We also offer same-day CEREC crowns.
Crown InformationCraze lines are superficial cracks in enamel that are common in adults, cause no symptoms, and rarely require treatment. Fractured cusps occur when a piece of the chewing surface breaks off — usually around a filling — and typically don't affect the nerve.
A cracked tooth extends from the chewing surface toward the root. If the crack hasn't reached the nerve, the tooth can often be saved with a crown. A split tooth — where a crack extends fully through the tooth — may require extraction if segments cannot be preserved.

Crown InformationCompleted in One Visit
A same-day CEREC crown can be designed, milled, and fitted in a single appointment. No temporaries needed and you leave with a permanent restoration.
Same-Day CrownsIf Nerve is Affected
If the crack has reached the pulp, root canal therapy removes the infected nerve tissue before the crown is placed to restore the tooth.
Root Canal InfoImportant information about crack treatment
Most cracked teeth can be saved with proper treatment. Craze lines and fractured cusps rarely cause loss. Cracks that don't reach the nerve usually respond to crowns. Only severely split teeth may require extraction.
If you have sharp pain or sensitivity, seek care immediately. Asymptomatic cracks can wait a few days, but the sooner treated, the better the prognosis.
A well-placed crown typically lasts 10-15+ years with proper care. Avoid chewing on hard objects and maintain good oral hygiene.
Yes. Our CEREC technology allows us to design and mill crowns in-office. Many cracks and breaks can be restored in one appointment.
If extraction is necessary, we discuss replacement options including dental implants, which are the gold standard for tooth replacement.
