Cosmetic Restorations

Veneers that
transform your smile with precision.

Porcelain veneers are custom restorations that cover the front surface of your teeth to improve shape, size, color, and alignment. At Vitality Health, we use digital smile design to preview your results before any tooth is touched, then mill your veneers in-house for uncompromising fit and esthetics.

What Are Dental Veneers?

Thin shells that reshape your smile

Dental veneers are ultra-thin layers of medical-grade porcelain (or composite resin) bonded to the front surface of your teeth. Unlike crowns, which surround the entire tooth, veneers cover only the visible front. This conservative approach preserves as much of your natural tooth structure as possible.

Veneers are custom-made for your mouth. We take a digital scan or impression, then create a template that matches your tooth anatomy exactly. Each veneer is fabricated to the precise thickness and contour needed to achieve your desired smile. Because we mill veneers in-house using our CAD/CAM system, we maintain absolute control over shape, translucency, and color.

Common reasons patients choose veneers include: teeth that are small or short, gaps between teeth, chips or cracks, discoloration from medications or root canal treatment, teeth that are misaligned or irregularly shaped, or simply a desire to brighten and reshape the smile. A single veneer can be placed on one tooth, or a full 'smile makeover' might involve six to ten veneers across the upper (and sometimes lower) teeth.

Veneers are not reversible—they require removal of a thin layer of enamel from your tooth. This is permanent, so the decision to place veneers should be made with full understanding that replacement will be needed at some point in the future.

The Veneer Process at Vitality Health

From design to placement in two visits

Visit 1: Smile Design & Tooth Preparation. Dr. Miranda Wang meets with you to understand your smile goals. We use digital smile design software to show you exactly what your veneers will look like—you'll see a preview on screen before we remove any tooth structure. Once you approve the design, we lightly shape the front of your teeth to prepare them for the veneers (this is a minimal reduction, typically less than 1mm). We then take a high-precision digital scan or impression, and choose the shade and translucency of porcelain that will best match your desires and tooth color.

In-House Milling: Our CAD/CAM system mills your veneers from a solid block of pressed ceramic. Because we control this process, veneers are ready within days, not weeks. We inspect each veneer under magnification to ensure the fit, shape, and surface contour are perfect before you return.

Visit 2: Try-In & Bonding. Your veneers are tried in first to confirm fit, shade, and appearance. You see them in place and approve how they look. If any adjustment is needed—contour, shade, or contact points—we make it immediately. Once you're satisfied, we prepare your tooth surface and permanently bond each veneer using dental cement. The bond is so strong that veneers become part of your tooth structure.

Aftercare is simple: brush and floss normally. Avoid biting on hard objects or grinding your teeth. Veneers last 10–15 years or longer with proper care. Some patients never need replacement; others may eventually want to refresh them with new ones.

Veneer FAQs

Get detailed answers to the questions we hear most about veneers.

Very little. Veneer preparation typically requires removing 0.5–1mm of tooth structure from the front surface—less than the thickness of a fingernail. This is far more conservative than a crown, which removes 1.5–2mm. We use high-magnification visualization to be as precise as possible. The goal is minimal reduction while ensuring the veneer bonds securely and doesn't look too thick.

Yes. We use digital smile design software to create a preview of your future smile on screen. You'll see how the new shape, size, and shade will look on your face before we touch your teeth. This allows you to refine your goals and make sure we're aligned on the aesthetic outcome.

Porcelain veneers typically last 10–15 years, though many last longer. Longevity depends on the quality of the bond, your oral hygiene, and how you use your teeth. Avoid biting on ice, hard candy, or pen caps. If you grind your teeth at night, we recommend a nightguard to protect your veneers. Eventually, veneers will need replacement—they're not permanent solutions, but they are durable cosmetic improvements.

Both improve tooth appearance, but differently. Composite bonding uses tooth-colored resin that's sculpted directly onto your tooth. It's quick and less expensive, but it stains, wears, and discolors over 5–7 years. Veneers are custom-milled from porcelain—they're more durable, hold their color longer, and feel more like natural teeth. Veneers also give more control over shape and shade, but they require tooth preparation and are more costly upfront.

Yes, if they're made well. Vitality Health uses high-quality porcelain and mills veneers with precise control over translucency and surface texture. Your natural tooth color shows through the porcelain (translucency), creating depth and a natural appearance. We also match the veneer shape to your face and smile line so they blend seamlessly with your other teeth.

Veneers can close gaps and hide minor misalignment by covering irregular teeth with custom shapes. For larger gaps or significant bite problems, orthodontics may be a better solution or should be done first. Dr. Wang can assess your situation and recommend whether veneers alone will achieve your goals or if orthodontic treatment makes sense.

Porcelain is strong but not indestructible. Minor chips can sometimes be polished smooth or bonded with composite resin. Larger damage usually requires veneer replacement. This is why we recommend avoiding hard foods and using a nightguard if you grind your teeth. Proper care significantly extends the life of your veneers.

No special cleaning is needed. Brush twice daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush and floss daily. Avoid abrasive toothpastes. Regular professional cleanings (twice yearly) keep your veneers and natural teeth healthy. Because veneers are bonded at the gum line, meticulous oral hygiene prevents decay at the margin.
