We create a small window in the lateral wall of the maxillary sinus, carefully elevate the sinus membrane, and pack bone graft material beneath it. Sinus Window & Membrane Elevation

Dr. Singh creates a small window in the lateral sinus wall, accessing the sinus membrane without entering the nasal cavity.

The membrane is gently elevated (lifted) upward, creating space beneath it for bone graft placement.

Precise surgical technique prevents membrane perforation, which could compromise graft success and require repeat surgery.

The sinus floor is now positioned higher, effectively gaining vertical bone height in the area where the implant will be placed.

Bone Graft Placement

A biocompatible bone graft (often a combination of your own bone and donor material) fills the space created beneath the elevated sinus membrane.

The procedure typically takes 1-2 hours depending on complexity, the approach used, and whether it's combined with implant placement. Lateral window approaches usually take longer than crestal techniques. Your anesthesiologist will keep you comfortable throughout.

Most patients experience minimal pain—discomfort is usually well-managed with prescribed medication for 3-5 days. Swelling peaks around day 2-3 and gradually resolves over 1-2 weeks. We provide detailed post-op instructions to minimize complications and ensure smooth healing.

Sinus membrane perforation occurs in 10-30% of cases but is not a failure—it's expected and managed. If detected during surgery, we repair it with a barrier membrane and proceed. Studies show perforation doesn't significantly impact graft success rates when properly managed.
