About Dr. Ing

Expert Anaesthesia Care for Comfortable Dentistry

Dr. Steven Ing completed dental school and additional specialty training in dental anaesthesiology, making Vitality one of the few dental offices in the region with a dedicated Dental Anaesthesiologist on-staff. His advanced training means he understands the full spectrum of patient health factors and can safely administer IV sedation to patients with complex medical histories.

What sets Dr. Ing apart is his on-staff role with Vitality Health. Rather than contracting with a different visiting anaesthesiologist each time, sedation cases at Vitality are scheduled with Dr. Ing in advance. This continuity ensures he understands your case completely, manages your sedation personally throughout the procedure, and monitors your recovery. Patients appreciate his calm demeanor and commitment to their comfort and safety.

Gentle Calming Effect

Perfect for mildly anxious patients. You receive medication that helps you relax while remaining conscious and able to follow instructions. You'll remember the procedure and be ready to leave shortly after with minimal recovery time.

Conscious Sedation for Complex Procedures

Also called twilight sleep. You drift in and out of consciousness and have little to no memory of the procedure. You respond to stimulation but are deeply relaxed. Ideal for moderate to complex dental work where comfort is essential.

Is This Right For You?

Nearly Sleep-Like State

For extensive surgery or highly anxious patients, deep sedation provides near-sleep comfort. Dr. Ing monitors you continuously, managing your airway and vital signs. You'll wake feeling like you've had a restful nap with no awareness of the procedure.

Discuss Deep Sedation

Gentle Anxiety Relief

A mild sedative gas mixed with oxygen. You breathe it through a nose mask. Nitrous oxide takes the edge off anxiety without putting you to sleep. The effect wears off immediately once you stop breathing it.

Everything You Need to Know About IV Sedation

Yes. IV sedation is extremely safe when administered by a qualified Dental Anaesthesiologist like Dr. Ing. He monitors your heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and breathing continuously throughout the procedure. Modern sedation medications have excellent safety profiles.

No. Combined with local anesthetic, IV sedation ensures you feel no pain. You may feel pressure or vibration from dental instruments, but these sensations are not painful.

No. You must fast for 6-8 hours before IV sedation (nothing to eat, clear liquids only). This prevents complications. We'll provide detailed pre-procedure instructions when you schedule.

Recovery is quick. Most patients are alert within 15-20 minutes after sedation ends. You'll need a driver to take you home (you cannot drive yourself). Most people resume normal activities the next day.

With moderate or deeper sedation, most patients have little to no memory of the procedure—it feels like no time has passed. This amnesia effect is one reason patients appreciate IV sedation for complex treatment.

Side effects are minimal. Some patients experience mild nausea or grogginess after sedation, but these resolve quickly. Detailed post-operative instructions will be provided to ensure smooth recovery.
